Welcome to FindMyLIC (“FindMyLIC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by FindMyLIC (“Operator”). These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the FindMyLIC website, including all pages, forms, listings, and accounts (collectively, the “Site”).
By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
FindMyLIC is an informational directory only. We list Catholic young adult groups, ministries, and events on Long Island so that individuals can discover and connect with them.
FindMyLIC and the Operator:
All groups and events listed on the Site are organized and conducted independently by third parties. Any interaction you have with a group, group leader, or event — online or in person — is solely between you and that third party.
The Site is intended for individuals 18 years of age or older. By using the Site or submitting any form, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old and that the age you provide is accurate. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a person under 18 has submitted information, we will delete it.
Event and group information (times, locations, dates, contact details) is provided by third parties or gathered from public sources and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. We make no representation that any listing is accurate or current. Always confirm details directly with the group before attending.
Attendance at any event or participation in any group listed on the Site is entirely at your own risk. You acknowledge that FindMyLIC has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for, the conduct of any group, leader, venue, or attendee, or the safety, legality, or suitability of any event.
When you submit a form expressing interest in a group, you consent to FindMyLIC sharing your submitted information — including your name, email address, phone number, town, and age — with the leader or leaders of that group so they can contact you. How a group leader uses your information after we share it is governed by that group, not by FindMyLIC, although Section 6 below sets out what leaders agree to. See our Privacy Policy for details.
If you are given an account to manage a group’s listing (a “Leader”), the following applies to you in addition to the rest of these Terms. You agree that you:
Leaders act independently and are not employees, agents, volunteers, or representatives of FindMyLIC. We may suspend or remove any account or listing at our sole discretion, including for a breach of this Section. If you no longer wish to hold an account, email us and we will close it.
The Site allows Leaders to submit content — group descriptions, meeting schedules, links, events, and image files such as flyers (“Submitted Content”). You retain ownership of your Submitted Content.
By submitting it, you grant FindMyLIC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, resize, and display that content on the Site and in related listings, search results, and social previews, for as long as your listing appears. This licence exists only so that we can show your listing; it ends when the content is removed.
You represent and warrant that you own or have permission to use everything you submit, including any photograph, artwork, logo, or design in a flyer, and that it does not infringe anyone’s copyright, trademark, privacy, or publicity rights. Do not upload images of identifiable people without their permission. Do not upload anything unlawful, defamatory, obscene, harassing, or otherwise inappropriate for a parish audience.
We do not pre-screen Submitted Content, and we are not responsible for it. We may remove any Submitted Content at any time, for any reason, without notice.
Copyright complaints. If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, email findmylic@gmail.com with a description of the work, the URL of the material, your contact details, a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized, a statement under penalty of perjury that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for them, and your signature. We will investigate and remove infringing material promptly, and we may terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
You agree not to: (a) submit false or misleading information, including registering a group you do not represent; (b) use the Site to harass, harm, or solicit any person; (c) scrape, harvest, or collect information about other users; (d) interfere with the operation or security of the Site, or attempt to access any account or data that is not yours; or (e) use the Site for any unlawful purpose. We may remove listings or block access at our sole discretion.
The Site’s design, text, graphics, and compilation of listings are owned by the Operator or used with permission. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute Site content for commercial purposes without written permission. Parish and group names and logos belong to their respective owners.
The Site may link to third-party websites — parish sites, group chats such as GroupMe, social media, registration pages, and the diocesan vocations site. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third-party site, or for what happens to you after you follow such a link.
THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE OPERATOR AND FINDMYLIC, AND THEIR RESPECTIVE OWNERS, OFFICERS, VOLUNTEERS, AND AGENTS, SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY PERSONAL INJURY, DEATH, PROPERTY DAMAGE, OR OTHER HARM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO (A) YOUR USE OF THE SITE, (B) ANY EVENT OR GROUP LISTED ON THE SITE, (C) ANY INTERACTION WITH ANY THIRD PARTY IDENTIFIED THROUGH THE SITE, OR (D) THE ACTS OR OMISSIONS OF ANY GROUP LEADER, INCLUDING ANY MISUSE OF INFORMATION SHARED WITH THEM, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF THE OPERATOR FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SITE SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability; in those jurisdictions, liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Operator and FindMyLIC, and their respective owners, officers, volunteers, and agents, from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or relating to (a) your use of the Site, (b) your attendance at or participation in any listed event or group, (c) any content you submit to the Site, (d) your use of personal information shared with you as a group leader, (e) your violation of these Terms, or (f) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.
We may modify or discontinue the Site, or update these Terms, at any time. Updated Terms take effect when posted, and your continued use of the Site constitutes acceptance. The “Last Updated” date above reflects the current version.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or the Site shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Nassau County, New York, and you consent to personal jurisdiction and venue there.
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, form the entire agreement between you and the Operator regarding the Site.
